58 goats and 11 sheep from farms in the village of Badargi Noi in the Edinet district died from poisoning with mineral fertilizers. The incident happened on July 12 of this year.
The shepherd, without permission, came with the animals to a wheat field that had previously been treated with mineral fertilizers. As the shepherd said, the goats and sheep began to tremble, foam came from the mouth, they fell and died before our eyes.
According to the National Food Safety Agency, the cause of cattle death was mineral fertilizers, which were accidentally eaten by sheep and goats.
The first signs of poisoning were noticed by a shepherd who brought 300 livestock to the field. 300 households were affected. The damage is estimated at 30 thousand lei (1 lei - 0.057 US dollars).
The police and ANSA representatives intervened. Specialists took samples of dead animal tissues for analysis to determine the exact cause of their death.
The dead sheep and goats were buried on the lands of the village in a specially designated place.The owner of the field on which the animals found their death refused to comment on the situation, saying only that he was considered innocent. Police began an investigation into the death of animals.
