An open land market should guarantee equal starting opportunities for both holdings and small and medium-sized farmers. This was announced by the head of the "Agro-Food Rada" Ivan Slobodyanik during the fourth stage of the land council.
“In its current form, there are huge risks, average farmers will be lost in this process, because these conditions that are offered to them are not very good. Delays for foreigners for 4 years are very few.
The market is not only the ability to sell, it is the ability to buy, firstly. An open market is an equal starting opportunity. Today they are not there, ”Ivan Slobodyanik emphasized.
He also added that now all the discussions have focused on foreigners, however, foreign investment is not profitable either for agricultural holdings or for farmers.
“But neither holdings nor average farmers benefit from the entry of new players. Because there are no airbags, government support programs are reduced.
Crop really this year no. There are many medium-sized farmers who need to be supported today. The larger the middle class, the better for the country's economy, ”summed up Ivan Slobodyanik.
In his opinion, it is small farmers who will be destroyed, since many of them are just starting to work, and they need support. Without a financing tool, there is a risk that medium-sized farmers will disappear.
