Turkeys have a special psychology. For them, you can’t just copy technologies that are effective for growing a broiler or another bird, and expect good results. They tend to get depressed and may even commit suicide, as Igor Trepachenko, owner of Trepachenko LLC (Chernihiv region), which specializes in turkey farming, said.
Direct speech: “A turkey is a creature that only 24 hours a day thinks about how to die,” he explained. “And our task is to prevent this, if possible, and to make sure that he survives, feels good and has safely grown to a carnal age.”
Turkey chickens sleep 16 hours a day.
According to Igor Trepachenko, turkeys can become depressed, and they are also prone to suicide. They are more sensitive to stress, they are bad for strangers in the house and the like. Direct speech: “Therefore, you always need to be on your guard with turkeys,” summed up the owner of the farm.
As reported, in the second cycle of egg production, the breeding turkey loses about 40% of its productivity.
For information, the farm LLC Trepachenko contains 76 thousand heads of turkeys at the same time. In the parent herd, there are 5 thousand birds. There is a slaughterhouse with a capacity of 500 tons.
