After stopping entry for residents of Eastern Europe, the situation with seasonal business has deteriorated sharply.
Therefore, farmers are increasingly trying to attract local seasonal workers.
According to scientists, the area used for agricultural land is up to 50% of the entire land surface.
Due to the quarantine crisis, part-time employees, laid-off workers, students, retirees and self-employed people (mainly the so-called small entrepreneurs) are now increasingly submitting applications without orders to the company. Who you can hire without social protection and who can help facilitate a social contract, explains Marion von Chamier of the Westphalia Employers Association.
“Whether short-term employment is possible depends on the professional status of the person. Thus, you can hire self-employed, seasonal workers, retirees, housewives and school graduates between the school and the university in a short time and, therefore, without social security. Short-term employment is also possible for students who are currently unable to go to university, even if due to the fact that they are studying, they are not working full time.
It is important for the federal government to increase the maximum short-term duration to 5 months or 115 days by October 31, 2020 as part of the pandemic crisis so that you can hire temporary staff for longer than usual.
Short-term employment is not possible for the unemployed and asylum seekers. However, salary-based employment of € 450 is usually possible. However, it should be noted that income is (partially) offset by social benefits ”- said Chamye.
