This year, on the territory of agricultural land of the Krasnodar Territory, the proportion of melons is nine and a half thousand hectares.

It is noteworthy that a year earlier in the same region, the territory on which watermelons and melons were cultivated was one and a half thousand hectares less than current indicators. Such information was shared by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Employees of the General Directorate of Plant Production under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Krasnodar Territory inform that this year the increase in the area under cultivation of melons is due to the fact that local watermelons and melons are in great demand among consumers in the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that at this moment the total volume of the melon crop collected in the Krasnodar Territory is about eighty thousand tons. At the same time, the actual average yield is one hundred seventy centners from each cultivated hectare.

According to forecasts of agricultural experts, this year the volume of watermelon and melon harvest from the Kuban fields will be significantly higher than a year earlier. Indeed, this is not least accompanied by good weather and favorable climatic conditions.

At the end of the harvesting campaign in 2019, the gourds of the region intend to collect at least seventy-two thousand tons of watermelons (in 2018, sixty-eight thousand tons were collected).

We add that the cultivation of watermelons is a specificity of twenty Krasnodar enterprises. Most of them are located in the territory of the Temryuk region.
