At a farm in the village of Leshchin, Zhidachevsky district, Lviv region, a fire occurred, resulting in the death of 500 farm animals.
The fire spread throughout the farm and occupied 1680 m². In the fire there were no casualties, only animals were injured, the press service of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine reported.
When rescuers arrived at the scene, fire had already swept the roof of the building. Firefighters focused their efforts on saving animals and preventing the transfer of fire to neighboring buildings. The fire was accompanied by intense release of combustion products, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said in a statement.In total, the rescuers managed to get 1,100 pigs out of the blazing building. But 500 animals died in the fire. The fire was extinguished only two hours after reporting it.
26 firefighters and 8 units of special equipment worked to eliminate the fire. The cause of the incident is still unknown and is being investigated.Earlier it was reported that throughout the territory of Ukraine arson attacks of dead wood continue, which not only harm the flora and fauna, but can also lead to the ignition of household and residential buildings. In some cases, such arson ends in the death of people.
