Ukrainian farmers have almost completely exhausted carrot stocks in vegetable storages, and today you can buy carrots abroad at attractive prices only in Belarus, experts say the vegetable market.
The situation with carrots in the Ukrainian market remains quite tense. So, with a stably small demand, the supply of carrots in the country's market is not enough, which allows traders to continue to raise already high selling prices.
At the end of last week, carrots in Ukrainian markets were sold at a price of 19-22 UAH / kg. But at such a high price they offered only high quality products. Substandard carrots were sold earlier, and in early May it was almost gone on the shelves.Earlier it was reported that farmers of the Kherson region began the season of harvesting carrots in 2019. The first lots of young vegetables were sold at fairly high prices. At the beginning of the season in the wholesale markets of Ukraine, carrots cost 45-50 UAH / kg, which is equivalent to € 1.53-1.7 / kg.
At the same time, market operators reported that they were not going to lower prices for carrots of the new crop due to its small supplies to the market and the high price of “old” carrots. As of May 10, the cost of carrots last year’s harvest on the wholesale market of Shuvar ORSP in Lviv was 10-18 UAH / kg (€ 0.34-0.61 / kg) depending on quality.
