In Ireland, in the county of Meath, a unique one in a million case occurred: a large meat breed cow, Limousin, gave birth to three calves without assistance.
The cow herself in the field gave birth to one black heifer and two heifers - red and black. Owners of a suction farm (raising calves from birth to weaning) in Fordstown, Michael and Stephanie Bray, for their nearly 30-year-old farming, faced this for the first time.
At first, Stephanie thought that the red calf was lost. “I have to say that I initially thought that this other cow gave birth to a calf in another place of the field, and this calf passed to the other two. But Michael and my son Conor, who is also involved in agriculture, told me about the triplets, and I decided to look, ”said Stephanie.Michael Bray, who is also the manager of the local rural pub, hastened to tell his unique case about this to his clients, who did not immediately understand that it was not a sheep, but a cow.
When the “mother of many children” did not have enough milk to feed the three calves, the Bray family feeds them extra milk using empty and washed Balmers cider bottles.Limousin is a large beef cattle breed originating from the regions of France Limousin and Marche. Also, this breed of cows is known as a limousine.
