Residents of the village of Kovalin Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky district of the Kiev region are increasingly complaining about the deterioration of the environmental situation due to the functioning of a fur farm in a dangerous proximity to the village.
6 years ago, a fur farm for growing minks appeared near the village of Kovalin. During this time, the people living here were able to fully "enjoy" her presence: the smell of decomposition, mountains of chemically dangerous manure in the fields and the deterioration of water quality. Now the peasants are drawing public attention to their problem, because the village headman Vitaliy Manzyuk does not see anything terrible in what is happening . He assures that according to the results of testing by the Baryshev laboratory, the quality of the water does not cause concern. But local residents do not believe the study, suspecting fraud, and are in search of an independent examination.
The mink farm is located 300 m from the water well. Local resident Lyubov Rudenko is sure that because of this, the village does not have good water. Marianna Kononenko also complains of bad water. After the appearance of a fur farm, a woman became ill with bronchial asthma and diabetes mellitus, which is associated with its harmful effect. Waste from production is not utilized by the enterprise. A resident of the village of Kapitalina Shevchenko says that manure is thrown right at the exit of the farm into the field. In agriculture, it can not be used, since mink is fed with antibiotics and chemicals. Their manure is toxic.
The farm grinds the bodies of minks and feeds them to other minks, but some remain and are burnt. Local resident Tatyana Androsenko says the crematorium is turned on at night. On the one hand, the peasants constantly inhale the smells of manure, and on the other - the amber of burnt animals. A fur farm for growing minks is located 700 meters from the nearest houses in the village. According to the norms, it should be located no less than 3 km from the residential area, eco-activist Pavel Vyshebaba comments on the situation. On March 14 this year, at a meeting of residents of the village of Kovalin, a meeting was held with the farm’s leadership. The peasants were assured that production waste would be taken out 6 km from the village.
