The vineyards of Brandenburg (Germany) suffer from the massive breeding of raccoons. Every night, grapes are attacked by these animals, according to a local winemaker.
Winemakers from the Lucau region (Dame-Spreewald) complain of increased harm from raccoons who eat grapes everywhere. In any case, the grape harvest is already low due to frost in the spring, the farmer said.
The reason for the night attacks may be that this year there were few apples, pears and plums, the winemaker suspects. He tried to play wolf screams in the vineyard.
The farmer speculated that this could deter raccoons from attacking and save the grape harvest. However, the idea had no effect, he continued.
According to RBB, the raccoon population in Brandenburg has been growing steadily for many years. According to the German Hunting Association, in 2018, 35 thousand of these animals were killed in Brandenburg.
Wild animals often interfere in the life of farmers, trampling and eating their crops. So, earlier it was reported that wild boars cause significant damage to farmers in Lebanon.
They destroy plantations and eat vegetables and fruits, completely depriving farmers of profit.
