Meadow Foods, a UK-based dairy producer, said it would lower its April price of milk by 0.75 pence per liter.
This step will lead to the fact that the standard price per liter of milk will be 26.75 pence. The change will apply to the flat rate element in the price chart.
Despite some initial concerns about feed stocks this winter, milk volumes are well ahead of previous years, the company said. Market prices have been holding up due to declining milk production on the continent, but milk production in both the UK and Europe has already begun This increased volume led to a drop in the price of cream from 1.70 to less than 1.50 pounds per kilogram in the last two weeks alone.Mark Chantler, executive director of Meadow Foods, comments: “Although we held our price for several months in a row, the increase in the volume of milk in the market and the decrease in the price of cream made us respond to market pressure. When we go to flash, we will continue to closely monitor the volumes and their impact on the market, as well as the potential consequences of Brexit. ”
Meadow Foods is Britain's largest independent dairy group, working with more than 650 supply farmers.
