In early summer, you can observe the aroma of melon, which is distributed everywhere. Gokseong Melon, which is produced under the K-Melon brand, has hit the tables of consumers across the country since mid-May.
Gokseong Nonghyup Corporation focuses on increasing farm profits, rather than financial and economic projects, and is committed to sustainable growth by creating an Agricultural Distribution Center (APC) and horticultural nurseries. Thanks to these efforts of the Gokseong Agricultural Cooperative, more than 2,200 tons of high-quality melons reach the table of consumers who have visited large supermarkets.
The largest melon was grown in Austria and weighed more than 200 kg.
The best horticultural nurseries in the country are located in the Gokseong Agricultural Cooperative Gardens, which consists of glass and vinyl greenhouses that are well established in the country.
2 million melon seedlings, 800,000 cucumber seedlings, 200,000 tomato seedlings and 100,000 watermelon seedlings grow here. It is difficult to find an empty spot due to high demand throughout the country. The level of distribution of corporation products in other regions is high, since the volume of orders outside Gokseong is 60% of the total volume. Jiang Song Jin, the head of the nursery, said: "This is the place where quality seedlings are made."
The main reason for success is that the opening of the corporation was preceded by efforts to recruit qualified experts.
