This year, in Ukraine, experts expect a high harvest of honeysuckle. In particular, this is the opinion of Alexander Yarechenko, Ph.D.

According to the expert, in Ukraine this culture is only gaining popularity. Industrial plantings of berries have not yet entered the period of commercial fruiting. This leads to limitations in both market size and supply.

According to preliminary estimates, the gross harvest of honeysuckle in Ukraine will be approximately equal to 20-25 tons. Alexander Yarechenko emphasizes that the collected volumes of honeysuckle will not be able to negatively affect the cost of the berry.

It is expected that the price of high-quality packaged berries in retail chains will be at least 150-200 UAH / kg ($ 5.7-7.6 / kg), that is, its price will be at the level of 2018. Honeysuckle will be harvested and sold at for 30 days.

After that, the harvesting and selling season of blueberries will begin. It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian market this year for the first time will see the best varieties of honeysuckle, which should cause increased interest from consumers.

According to the expert, Ukrainian processing enterprises are already interested in the processing of berries. So far, the volume of its production and the high cost price do not allow to seriously engage in the manufacture of products from honeysuckle, although the first developments in this matter showed excellent results.

If mechanized harvesting will be carried out on plantations, then we can expect the appearance of products from this berry.
