This month, Element Farms uses its new greenhouse complex with an area of 21 thousand.
The company will use a greenhouse that once belonged to a horticultural company. Owing to its own technology and additional lighting, a wide assortment of leafy vegetables will be grown here: spinach, arugula, young salad, pea shoots, beets, etc.
The design is completely made of glass, which allows more efficient transmission of natural sunlight. Since the greenhouse is built on a hill, the temperature in it is moderate, and the costs of cooling and heating are limited during the annual production of the company.
Most daily tasks are automated using machines adapted to operations, such as sowing and harvesting to increase yield per square meter. The new greenhouse is also ideally located on delivery routes to New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where there is a high population density and stable demand.
“We are very pleased with our new greenhouse. We adjust every aspect to work very efficiently, integrate crop protection and focus on sustainability, ”says company founder Serdar Mizracci.
“We are also pleased that we can meet ever-growing demand and supply more environmentally friendly, safe and tasty vegetables to retailers and customers.”
The new greenhouse has special areas for research and development, as well as a room with full climate control for both growing and packaging. Element Farms expects their team to double after launch and thus provide jobs for the region.
The Lafayette Greenhouse is only the first part of the Elementary Farm Growth Plan. The company is currently working on other greenhouse projects in two other states, and is ready to enter the market. Element Farms expects to be able to tell more about these projects next year.
