The sowing campaign in the Kherson region this year takes place in difficult conditions.
Topsoil suffers from a lack of productive moisture. Therefore, farmers in the region began watering work, the press service of the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex of the Kherson Region said in a statement.
In addition to watering, farmers in the region continue to sow late crops such as sunflower, flax and mustard. Sunflower seeds have already been planted 57.5 thousand ha or 18% of the forecast, flax - 2.1 thousand ha or 83% and mustard - 7.6 thousand ha or 85% of the forecast.Agricultural enterprises of the Kherson region are doing work on fertilizing crops. To do this, they have already purchased 49 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers, which fully covers the needs of the region. The farmers purchased diesel fuel in the amount of 116.7 thousand tons or 89% of the demand. The purchase of diesel by agricultural enterprises in the region continues.
Earlier it was reported that farmers in the south of Ukraine assess the condition of winter crops as satisfactory and complain about the lack of moisture in the soil. Respondents from the southern regions of the country reported a catastrophic overdried topsoil. In the absence of precipitation and moisture reserves in the soil, winter crops stopped at the tillering phase. Only a small percentage of plants are at the exit stage into the tube.
