In late April, rain and hail swept through the lands of the Ternopil Oblast, which caused great damage to the region's agriculture. The total amount of losses is estimated at 53 million UAH.
Heavy rains with hail led to the flooding of fields and household plots, as well as the destruction of agricultural crops on an area of 3.1 hectares.
As Vladimir Stakhov, director of the department of agro-industrial development of the Ternopil regional state administration explains, the above amount of weather damage is only a sowing campaign without taking into account lost funds from the harvest. The greatest losses were suffered by the agrarians of the Kozovsky district, where agricultural land with an area of 2 thousand hectares was affected by bad weather. Zborovsky and Berezhansky districts of the region also suffered greatly.
At the same time, the vagaries of the weather should not affect the crop, as farmers still have time to reseed damaged crops, noted in the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Ternopil Regional State Administration.Recall that heavy rains and hail were observed in the Ternopil region on April 28, 2019. 34 households were flooded. In some areas of the region, the land was completely hidden under a layer of ice and snow. They fell during bad weather and caused damage to perennial plantations and agricultural crops.
