In the summer, the cost of vegetables on the trading floors of Ukraine will fall by 30%, according to the director of the Ukrainian Association of suppliers of retail chains, Alexey Doroshenko.
Summer decline in the cost of vegetables will reach 30%. So, the minimum price for onions and cabbage will be 10-12 UAH. New potatoes in the last days of June will be sold at a price of 15 UAH. Beetroot will be cheaper by 30%, Alexey Doroshenko shared information.
According to Alexei Doroshenko, the decline in vegetable prices is due to the arrival of 2019 lots of vegetables to the country's markets, as well as the presence of imported products, which were purchased a large quantity this spring.
It was previously reported that in the spring of 2019, Ukraine opened the import of all vegetables of the “borsch set”. Experts called this season abnormal: the purchase of vegetables abroad, which make up the “borsch set”, increased 5 times a year, as evidenced by the data obtained in the process of price monitoring by the Info-Shuvar news agency.
Volumes of imported products have never reached such proportions. Typically, the country dispensed with vegetables of its own cultivation. But due to the reduction of sown areas and low productivity in Ukraine and in European countries, the country resorted to buying vegetables abroad in the fall of 2018.
