Over the past week, the seaports of Ukraine exported 856 thousand tons of major crops. This is 31% less than it was the previous week, when the volume of grain shipped amounted to 1240 thousand tons.
The reporting week was marked by the resumption of barley exports. Its shipments amounted to 18 thousand tons. In the 2019/20 marketing year, Ukraine will be able to sell 4 million tons of barley abroad.
This season, barley exports are projected at 3.9 million tons, according to a statement by the president of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UZA) Mykola Gorbachev. According to his forecasts, the production of barley in the new season will be 7.5 million tons.In 2018, its production reached 7.395 million tons. Compared to the 2017/18 marketing year, next year the barley crop is expected to be 1.1 million tons less. Export of this crop will decrease by 0.29 million tons, Nikolay Gorbachev summed up.
It was previously reported that in 2018 Ukraine broke several historical records for the production of grain crops at once. According to the State Statistics Service of the country, the crop obtained last year was the largest in ten years. In addition, it was possible to obtain the highest historical data on the gross harvest of sunflower, corn, soybeans and sugar beet yields.
